PROFILE
Monthanus Ratanapakdee

Monthanus Ratanapakdee was appointed to the San Francisco
Immigrant Rights Commission by Mayor London Breed in August
2024.
Monthanus is the Founder and Executive Director of the Justice for
Vicha Ratanapakdee Foundation, a community foundation and
advocacy organization dedicated to fighting anti-Asian hate and
violence, supporting victims, and promoting community healing,
justice, and public safety. Her advocacy began after the tragic
death of her father, Vicha Ratanapakdee, whose case became a
national symbol in the movement to stop anti-Asian hate and
protect Asian American seniors.
Through her leadership, Monthanus has helped lead major
community efforts, including the Justice for Vicha mural, the Vicha
Ratanapakdee Way street renaming, Asian justice rallies, senior
safety advocacy, and Thai Songkran New Year recognition, which
was recognized by the California State Assembly in 2024. Her work
has helped bring together local, state, and national leaders to honor
her father's legacy and advance safety, dignity, and respect for
seniors, immigrants, and victims of hate and violence.
Monthanus also serves as a board member of the Southeast Asian
Development Center and has been active with the Chinatown
Volunteer Coalition, Thai Cultural Council, and Southeast Asian
community organizations. She is a longtime advocate for immigrant
communities, Asian American communities, seniors, victims,
families, and limited-English-speaking residents.
She holds an MBA and bachelor's degrees in English Business
Communication and Economics from universities in Thailand. She is
fluent in English, Thai, and German.
