Policy and Programs Internship

The Mayor's Office for Victims' Rights (MOVR) is looking for a Policy and Program Intern to support in research, community engagement, outreach, and special projects.

About MOVR

The Mayor’s Office for Victims’ Rights (MOVR) works to strengthen the City’s response to victims and survivors of crime in San Francisco. MOVR works with elected officials, City departments, and community partners to improve services, resources, and systems for victims and survivors.

What you'll do

The Policy & Programs Intern will support MOVR through research, community engagement, outreach, and special projects.

Depending on current projects and the intern’s interests and skills, responsibilities may include:

  • Conduct research on policies, programs, and issues affecting victims and survivors
  • Support research and writing for reports, policy projects, and other initiatives
  • Assist with community events, outreach, and engagement efforts
  • Gather and organize information from City departments, community organizations, and other sources
  • Help develop presentations, outreach materials, and other written materials
  • Support special projects based on MOVR’s current priorities

What you'll learn

Through the internship, students will gain experience in:

  • Conducting policy and program research
  • Understanding how local government develops and implements policies and programs
  • Working with City departments and community organizations
  • Using research and community input to inform reports and recommendations
  • Supporting community engagement and outreach in a city government setting

Who we're looking for

  • We’re looking for students interested in public policy, local government, victim services, community engagement, or related fields.
  • Strong research, writing, communication, organization, and attention to detail are required.
  • Students who are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively are encouraged to apply.

Internship details

Compensation: Unpaid
Hours: 10–20 hours per week
Duration: 3–6 months
Schedule: In-person
