The San Francisco Department of Elections Releases Preliminary Results Report #5 and Update on the Number of Unprocessed Ballots for November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Monday, November 17, 2025 – Today, the Department of Elections issued the fifth preliminary election results reports of votes cast in the November 4, 2025, Statewide Special Election.

Today’s preliminary results report includes 26,624 vote-by-mail and provisional ballots counted since the previous results report issued on Monday, November 10. 

The Department must still process and count approximately 2,800 provisional ballots.

Department personnel will process and count ballots during the weekdays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.  The Department expects to certify the local results for this statewide election on December 3.  Ballot processing is open to public observation in-person and via livestream at sfelections.gov/observe

The Department will next release preliminary results reports on Monday, November 24, at 4 p.m., which will be posted at sfelections.gov/results.  To view preliminary statewide election results, visit the California Secretary of State’s website at sos.ca.gov/elections.

When the Department issues preliminary results reports, Director John Arntz will be available to respond to questions from members of the public and the media outside of Room 48 in City Hall.
