The Department of Elections Begins Logic and Accuracy Testing for the November 3, 2026, Consolidated General Election

SAN FRANCISCO, Friday, September 18, 2026 – The Department of Elections will begin Logic and Accuracy (L&A) testing of San Francisco’s voting equipment on Monday, September 21, as part of its preparations for the November 3, 2026, Election. Testing will continue until all equipment has been tested. 

“Logic and Accuracy testing is an important part of our preparations for every election,” said Director John Arntz. “By testing each device with ballots prepared specifically for this election, we verify that the equipment is properly configured and accurately records and tabulates votes. We invite members of the public to observe this process in person or online.”

San Francisco’s voting system includes accessible ballot-marking devices, ballot-scanning machines used at polling places, and high-speed central ballot scanners. Each type of equipment undergoes L&A testing.

Testing will take place at the Department’s warehouse at Pier 31 and in the Ballot Processing Room at City Hall, Room 48. Members of the public are invited to observe testing in person at either location or through the Department’s livestream at sfelections.gov/live.

The Department conducts election activities in an open and transparent manner and welcomes public observation throughout the election cycle.
