Mayor Lurie's Statement on San Francisco Winning 2028 MLB All-Star Game

SAN FRANCISCO – Mayor Daniel Lurie today released the following statement after Major League Baseball announced plans to bring the 2028 All-Star Game to San Francisco’s Oracle Park:

“The eyes of the world have been on San Francisco for the last two years, and we’re proving that we are a city on the rise.

“San Francisco is the sports capital of the world. We gave the world Willie Mays, Willie McCovey, and Joe DiMaggio. We’ve hosted the Super Bowl, the World Cup, and NBA All-Star Weekend. And major events like these are driving our comeback: On the heels of another successful Outside Lands, with tourism breaking records this year and Vogue World coming next year, the momentum is building.

“As I shared with Commissioner Manfred two weeks ago, we’ve made public safety our top priority since day one, and we’re delivering safe and clean streets for residents and visitors. San Franciscans feel like our city is moving in the right direction, and people want to be here again.

“These major events bring visitors, support our local restaurants and bars, and continue to drive our recovery. And we’re going to keep our foot on the accelerator, so every family feels the benefit of that comeback.

“I want to thank Commissioner Manfred and Major League Baseball for recognizing the work we’ve done in San Francisco and bringing this incredible event to our city. I also want to thank the Giants for their partnership throughout this process and their continued commitment to San Francisco.
