Nayoung Song

2023 MCAH Epidemiologist Intern

Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health

Nayoung received a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Public Health Nutrition at the University of California, Berkeley. Before coming to Berkeley, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics from San Francisco State University.

For her MPH internship at SFDPH, Nayoung analyzed nutritional data on preschool children and created a presentation to understand their dietary changes throughout the school year. She also participated in research on finding corrective factors to account for measurement errors in Veggie Meters, helping to improve public health nutrition monitoring infrastructure.

She is interested in socioeconomic inequality on obesity and noncommunicable diseases that affect large groups of the population. Nayoung intends to pursue a career in research on preventing and treating Gastroesophageal reflux disease by applying dietary and lifestyle changes.
