Overview
This is the standard monthly public meeting of the Sheriff’s Department Oversight Board, held in person. Members of the Oversight Board will be present at the meeting. Members of the public are welcome to attend and observe the proceedings and may provide public comment either in person or remotely, including individuals with disabilities who require reasonable accommodations.

Approval of Minutes (Action)
The Board will review, discuss, and potentially vote to approve the minutes of the regular Board meeting held on July 24, 2026.
Oversight Review: Felony Charges Against Former Deputy (Discussion)
The Board will review and discuss the Sheriff’s Department’s response, investigative protocols, and internal oversight policies following felony sexual assault charges filed against a former deputy.
Civil Grand Jury Report; San Francisco Jails in Crisis (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss the Civil Grand Jury report “When Making Do Doesn’t Work: San Francisco Jails in Crisis” and may vote or take formal action regarding its findings and recommendations.
Sheriff's Inspector General Recruitment (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss the recruitment process for the Sheriff’s Inspector General and consider a specific recommendation regarding the current vacancy. The Board may vote or take formal action on this matter, including adopting the recommendation or determining subsequent actions.
SDOB 2025 Q4 and 2025 Annual Report (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially vote to approve the 2025 Q4 and 2025 Annual Report for submission to the Sheriff and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors pursuant to SF Charter Section 4.137(b)(5).
SDOB 2026 Q1 and Q2 Reports (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially vote to approve the 2026 Q1 and 2026 Q2 Reports for submission to the Sheriff and the San Francisco Board of Supervisors pursuant to SF Charter Section 4.137(b)(5).
Advisory Statement and Press Release on Reentry and Jail Programming (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and may vote to adopt a draft press statement. The statement details a local initiative to evaluate jail programming, improve pre-release conditions, and track community reentry. It clarifies the Board's advisory role to the Sheriff and Board of Supervisors, distinguishing local oversight from state corrections.
School Outreach Liaison and Student Civic Engagement (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially vote to select a board member to serve as a school outreach liaison. This liaison will invite schools to attend SDOB meetings and participate in a dedicated public-comment learning session.
Media Liaison and SDOB Platform Coordination (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially vote to select a media point person or liaison. This individual will manage media communications, public-facing content, and SDOB online platform coordination.
SDOB Identifying Attire for Public Events (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially vote to approve the purchase of SDOB varsity jackets or other distinct identifying attire for public events. This initiative aims to establish a professional public presence, differentiate Board members from Sheriff’s Department personnel, and recognize past and present members.
Future Agenda Items (Discussion and Possible Action)
The Board will discuss and potentially take action to propose, schedule, or prioritize agenda topics for upcoming meetings.
General Public Comment
The Board welcomes public comment on matters within its subject-matter jurisdiction that do not appear on today’s agenda. Speakers are requested to address the Board as a collective body rather than directing remarks to individual Board Members, Department staff, or San Francisco Sheriff’s Office personnel.
