II. OLD BUSINESS

The Committee will discuss suggestions on whether to ask for a revision to this Standard (the seven-night minimum).

III. NEW BUSINESS/REPORTS

A. POLICY SUBCOMMITTEE                                  Discussion

During last week’s subcommittee meeting, Members discussed the possibility of changing the frequency of visits for Family shelters with no complaints, training, which if any Standards of Care not already addressed may warrant changing, inspections scheduling and whether to take a winter break.

Public Comment will be heard before any proposed actions.
   
Proposed Action: Ask the BOS to allow that family shelters (out of compliance less than three times in the previous fiscal year) be inspected three times per year.

   Proposed Action: Vote to determine whether SMC will skip December meetings.

 


B. HOMELESSNESS & SUPPORTIVE HOUSING       Discussion

Update from the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing. In addition to the usual occupancy report, HSH will provide an assessment of the practicability of requiring secure storage for the bicycles of guests at the shelters that the SMC monitors.

C. DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH         Discussion

Review of August complaints.  Review of inspection schedule. Voting plan for 2023 officers. Note that changes to Standards 3, 9, 19, 21, and 32, as well as to the requirements for Seat 1, are ready to go before the Board of Supervisors.
