Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health

A San Francisco native, Matthew attended the University of California, San Diego where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Data Science. Matthew then completed his Masters of Computer Science in Data Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.

During his time as a student, Matthew interned with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a Quantitative Analytics intern where he worked to analyze public signatory reports for ESG information using Python. In addition, Matthew interned for two and a half years as a Data Intern within DOI-ONRR’s Open Data, Design and Development Team. His tasks included preparing monthly data, designing new visualizations, and assisting with user interviews for ONRR’s open data website.

Interested in gaining experience on a local-level, Matthew worked as a Voter Data Coordinator for the San Francisco Department of Elections during the November 2022 Consolidated General Election. As a San Francisco Fellow, Matthew leveraged his background in data analytics and programming as well as his past experiences in public service to make valuable contributions to projects such as the Community Health Needs Assessment and MCAH’s Preterm Birth Review.
