Mariel Mendoza, MPH/MPP, is the Senior Community Impact Director for the American Heart Association’s Bay Area team. She supports community-based organizations and Federally Qualified Health Centers through technical assistance and capacity building in nutrition security, blood pressure management, CPR/AED readiness, and tobacco cessation, with a focus on advancing health equity and strengthening community-led solutions.

She previously led collaborative, community‑driven efforts to shape equitable housing policy in Richmond and has worked across public health research, climate resilience, youth justice, and program evaluation. Mariel holds dual MPH and MPP degrees from UC Berkeley and brings frontline experience as a case manager in Southern California, which grounds her commitment to elevating community voices and strengthening systems that help individuals and families thrive.
