What to know

Requirements

You must be the license-holding owner of a contracting company to use this form.

For streamlined service

Registered authorized agents will no longer need to provide authorized agent forms nor driver’s licenses when applying for a permit.

What to do

1. Gather information about your contractor license

We will ask you for:

  • Your business name or California Contractors State License Board (CSLB) number
  • Your San Francisco Business Account Number (BAN)
  • An image of a government-issued ID, like your Driver’s License, state-issued ID card, alien registration card, passport, or form notarization

We will also ask you for the full name and email address for each authorized agent you want to add.

2. Complete the authorization form

Apply online at PermitSF.

After you apply

We will review your application and connect any potential authorized agents to your license in PermitSF within 2 business days.

Each authorized agent will need to create their own PermitSF account using the same email you provided.

Adding or removing authorized agents after authorization approval

Follow these steps to edit your contractor authorization record:

  1. Sign into your PermitSF profile.
  2. Once logged in, go to your “Dashboard” on the left side of the screen.
  3. Under “Action Required,” locate “Renew your Contractor Authorization” and select “Renew Now.”
