Larry Low
Attorney
Larry Low is a San Francisco native who has devoted his professional life to advancing excellence, equity, good governance, and education in both the private and public sectors. A respected attorney, community leader, and educator, he brings more than four decades of experience in law, business, and nonprofit service. As Counsel at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP—where he previously served as Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Partner—Larry guided global policies in governance, risk management, compliance, and operations. Earlier in his career, he was a partner at Preston Gates & Ellis, Graham & James, and Pettit & Martin, advising technology, venture capital, and cross-border clients. He currently serves as a Board Advisor to Lotus Venture Partners, a venture fund that supports emerging growth companies.
Larry’s civic leadership spans many of the City’s regarded institutions. He has served as a Trustee of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, Secretary and Trustee of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy, and Director, Vice President and Treasurer of the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation. He values education and has served as Board Chair of The Hamlin School, Vice Chair of the San Francisco Education Fund, and Vice Chair of San Francisco University High School. He was Director, Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel of the Committee of 100, and Trustee of the Bay Area Discovery Museum. He was appointed by President Bill Clinton to the Panel of Arbitrators for the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes and helped found the Legal Community Against Violence, now the Giffords Law Center, following the mass shooting at 101 California Street.
An educator and advocate for inclusion, Larry has served as an Adjunct Professor at Stanford Law School, where he taught Asian Americans and the Law, examining civil rights and belonging in American society. As the Chief Operating Officer of Ascend, he led the operations and strategy for the largest network of Asian American and Pacific Islander business and professional leaders in North America, providing programs to advance leadership and workplace equity.
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley (B.S., Business Administration) and the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco (J.D.), he grew up attending the City’s public schools and continues to live here with his wife, Doreen. They are proud parents of two daughters and grandparents of three. An endurance athlete, he has completed the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon five times.
