What is an in-kind child support order?

An in-kind child support order gives parents the option to agree to an exchange of goods or services, in addition to monetary support, within their child support order. Parents decide the goods or services, which might include transportation, clothing, shoes, groceries, and more! Participation is voluntary and you can withdraw from the project at any time.

To be considered for an in-kind child support order, your child support case must meet certain eligibility criteria and both parents must agree to participate.

For more information or to learn if your case qualifies, call us at (415) 356-2981 or email inkind@sfgov.org.
