About

Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) is a medication for HIV-negative individuals who are concerned about their HIV risk. PrEP can be taken in the form of pills or injections.

How can I get PrEP?

Talk to your primary care physician or local community Health Access Point (HAP) about getting a prescription for PrEP or call SF City Clinic PrEP Navigators at 628-217-6692.

How Effective is PrEP?

PrEP is more than 99% effective at reducing the risk of getting HIV from sex when used as directed. PrEP doesn’t protect against other STIs. Combining PrEP with condoms and Doxy-PEP will provide additional protection against HIV and STIs. PrEP is not a vaccine against HIV nor a cure for HIV.
