Acceptable Specimen Type(s) for Testing - Whole blood, Serum, Plasma

Transport / Collection Medium - Serum separator tubes (SST), Plasma preparation tube (PPT), Plasma collection tubes (K2 EDTA)

Storage and Preservation of Specimen - Freshly drawn specimens (whole blood) may be held at 15 to 30°C for up to 4 hours or at 2 to 8°C for up to 1 day, prior to centrifugation. After centrifugation, serum or plasma may be stored at 2 to 8°C for up to 7 days. If longer storage is required, serum or plasma must be held at -20°C or lower.

Minimum Volume Required - 3.0 milliliters of whole blood or 1.5 milliliters of serum or plasma

Additional Collection Instructions - Specimens must be maintained at 2 to 8°C during transit.
