Helen Kong
2023 MCAH Epidemiologist Intern

Helen graduated from the University of California, San Diego, with two bachelor's degrees—one in Psychology with a specialization in human health, and another in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution. Eager to expand her knowledge and make a significant impact in the field, Helen received a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology at UC Berkeley.
As part of her MPH program, Helen actively engaged in an internship at SFDPH, where she was involved in various projects showcasing her expertise. One of her key responsibilities was to develop a data visualization on sf.gov using Power BI and prepared 10 years of Head Start immunization data from 2013- 2022. In addition to her work on Head Start data, Helen also contributed to the implementation and data entry for the Veggie Meter Calibration Study. Her involvement in this project provided her with hands-on experience in implementing study protocols and setting up veggie meters in San Francisco.
Helen’s multidisciplinary background and experiences empower her to tackle complex health challenges from various angles. Through her dedication and commitment, Helen strives to create a future where communities thrive, and the well-being of individuals is safeguarded through effective public health initiatives.
