San Francisco offers a variety of free and low-cost disaster preparedness trainings to help you build lifesaving skills and confidence before a crisis.

You can learn emergency response, personal preparedness, CPR, first aid, and more from trusted city agencies and community partners.

  • San Francisco Fire Department’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Teams (NERT) teaches emergency preparedness and response basics through hands-on training so you are ready to take care of yourself and others.
    • LISTOS is a Spanish Language preparedness workshop taught by Los Bomberos in the San Francisco Fire Department, as part of the NERT program.
    • SF Ready Preparedness Workshops are 90-minute sessions on the basics of personal preparedness taught by firefighters, as part of the NERT program.
  • San Francisco Emergency Medical Services Agency teaches cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and how to use automatic electronic defibrillators (AEDs) to save lives.
  • American Red Cross Bay Area Chapter provides a variety of trainings including first aid, CPR, and how to prepare for emergencies.
  • Catholic Charities provides disaster readiness training through the California Listos program.
