The Film SF internship program is geared towards emerging filmmakers and/or students with a deep passion for film and media. The ideal candidate is interested in learning more about supporting storytellers, facilitating production activity, and amplifying the efforts of local media arts organizations through the work of Film SF, the official Film Office of San Francisco. The goals of this program are to develop professional experience working in a local government environment, network with the film/media community, and learn about and improve some of Film SF’s systems and processes.

Internship terms are 4-months long, hybrid (1 day in office, 1 day remote), and 14 hours per week. Note: this is not currently a paid position. Internship terms are as follows:

Winter: October through January

Summer: June and July (see OFA below)

Spring: February through May

OFA and B2SF Initiatives

Opportunities for All (OFA) is a youth career exploration and workforce development initiative designed to address economic inequality by ensuring all young people who live or attend school in the City can be a part of San Francisco’s thriving economy through hands-on skill building and mentorship opportunities.

The Black 2 San Francisco (B2SF) initiative offers a transformative and empowering six-week program for 70 students. B2SF interns living, learning, and working in the City contribute to San Francisco's economic revitalization and help to cultivate future leaders in tech, government, education, and beyond.

Applications usually open in spring. Internships run for five weeks from June to August. Interns placed through OFA and B2SF may have the option of extending their internship with Film SF. However, the extended portion of the internship would be unpaid.

Interested? Email your resume to film@sfgov.org with the subject line “Internship”. Please note that OFA and B2SF applications are reviewed and approved directly by the OFA staff. Please reach out to them at placements@opps4allsf.org for questions regarding application status.
