Welcoming all customers: Accessibility best‑practices for disability‑friendly small businesses

Office of Small Business

Creating an inclusive, disability‑friendly business doesn’t have to be expensive or overwhelming. In fact, 28% of Americans have some type of disability* – being an inclusive business is good for your bottom line!

In this dynamic, in-person presentation, small business owners will learn simple, practical, and affordable strategies for welcoming customers with a wide range of disabilities. It will feature a panel of people with disabilities, who will share their real‑world experiences that show how small changes can drive where they choose to shop and dine. Their disabilities include using a wheelchair, or being Deaf, blind, or neurodiverse.

Hosted by the Office of Disability & Accessibility and the Office of Small Business, in partnership with the SF Public Library. Part of Small Business Week.

The Latino/Hispanic Community Room and the Main Library are wheelchair accessible. This event will include ASL interpretation. For additional accommodations call (415) 557-4557 or contact accessibility@sfpl.org. Requesting at least 3 business days in advance will help ensure availability.
