The City and County of San Francisco has amended the Healthy Airport Ordinance (Ordinance No. 234-25) to introduce a new compliance method that gives employers with covered employees greater flexibility.

Starting February 26, 2026, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) Quality Standards Employers with QSP Employees will have three compliance options for the rest of 2026.
- From February 26 through December 31, 2026, employers can continue using either of the two existing methods or adopt the new third method, a tiered irrevocable expenditure.
- Beginning January 1, 2027, the tiered irrevocable expenditure method will become the only compliance option.
This transition period allows employers to maintain their current approach or switch early to the new system.
