OEWD plays a critical role in advancing Mayor Lurie’s vision for San Francisco’s comeback—cutting red tape, activating streets and storefronts, and driving policies that spur housing development, create jobs, grow talent, and strengthen the economy. As an agency delivering end-to-end economic solutions, OEWD offers programs and resources spanning business development, community economic development, workforce development, small business support, joint development, and industry engagement.
As we head into a difficult budget season, the City will need to ensure that its investments are producing outcomes for San Francisco residents, businesses, and communities. We would like to hear your ideas to help us realize the equitable outcomes we want to see in the communities and industries we serve. Please join us at one of two Budget Town Halls and make your voice heard. Meetings are open to the public.
This year, we're trying something new. Both meetings will follow the same agenda and will incorporate breakout sessions focused on direct feedback and new ideas to deliver outcomes in the following areas:
- Economic Development: citywide strategies for investment, commercial district revitalization, industry partnerships, workforce development, and advancing economic mobility.
- Downtown Revitalization through business attraction, storefront activation, development incentives, public space improvements, etc.
- Business Support: Support policies and resources that help businesses start, grow, and thrive.
Insights from the Workforce Division’s fall listening sessions will be incorporated into the broader findings from the town halls and survey, and all information will be used to guide the development of our budget. We will share these findings via email once our process has concluded.
