Medi-Cal Changes are coming soon
Starting January 1, 2026: Medi-Cal enrollment restrictions for undocumented Californians
Undocumented Californians age 19 and above who don’t currently receive Medi-Cal benefits will no longer be eligible for full healthcare coverage through Medi-Cal. If you have coverage, you remain eligible as long as you stay enrolled – regardless of immigration status. Make sure to follow recertification instructions to keep your benefits.
Apply Now
We strongly encourage undocumented community members age 19 and up to apply for Medi-Cal before January 1, 2026. See flyers from SF Human Services Agency and the SF Health Plan for resources: SF Health Coverage Resources - Dec 2025
Eligibility
Newly arrived asylum seekers and immigrants in the U.S. who are planning to apply or have already applied for asylum status or other status.
We support newly arrived immigrants and asylum seekers with:
- Health screening
- Medi-Cal enrollment information
- Connections to healthcare and other resources.
