San Francisco’s District 10, home to the Bayview, Hunters Point, Potrero Hill, Sunnydale, and Visitacion Valley neighborhoods, is hosting eleven Summer Learning Week events.
Asian Pacific American Community Center
Visitacion Valley APACC Cleaning Day: We lead a full Visitacion Valley neighborhood cleanup and beautification initiative, engaging youth, families, and corporate partners in a collaborative effort to revitalize public spaces. Together, participants cleaned streets and sidewalks, enhanced curb appeal, and planted greenery in designated sidewalk areas, fostering a shared sense of pride, stewardship, and community connection throughout the neighborhood.

Bay Area Community Resources: Bret Harte Beacon Summer Camp
Summer Spark: Learn, Play, Create: Summer Spark: Learn, Play, and Create is a dynamic TK–5 program designed to ignite curiosity, creativity, and connection through hands-on learning and engaging enrichment activities. Students will participate in a variety of experiences including arts and crafts, STEM-based projects, sports, games, and collaborative clubs that encourage exploration and skill-building in a fun, supportive environment. This event will align with San Francisco’s Learn, Lead, Belong theme by providing meaningful opportunities for students to learn through interactive and enriching activities, lead by building confidence, making choices, and taking on leadership roles within clubs and group projects, and belong by fostering a safe, inclusive community where every student feels valued, connected, and empowered to participate.
Boys and Girls Club: Carver Beacon
Youth participated in our Organizations Spelling Bee where our program took 3rd place. We also had a pep rally which is held twice a week to inspire our youth to engage in the Literacy Program with a Community Partner Reading Program.
Creativity Explored: Camp Imaginate
Creativity Explored Community BBQ: This community BBQ brought together our youth and adult artists of Creativity Explored for a meaningful celebration of creativity, connection, and community. Participants had the opportunity to build relationships across generations, share artistic experiences, and learn from one another in a welcoming and inclusive environment. The event also honored Creativity Explored’s 44-year legacy of supporting artists with disabilities in their creative journeys while celebrating the continued growth of our community through the inclusion of youth and young adult artists. Through conversation, art, and shared experiences, this gathering highlighted the power of belonging, mentorship, and artistic expression across all ages.
FACES SF: BaseCamp
Summer of Leadership & Belonging: FACES SF's Summer Learning Week event centered on creating a space where every child felt seen, supported, and connected. Throughout the week, participants took part in activities that built confidence, encouraged teamwork, and provided opportunities to share their voices and develop leadership skills in meaningful ways.
Good Samaritan Family Resource Center: Vision Academy
Time Travelers Week (The Past, The Present, and The Future): Students engaged in an exploration of San Francisco’s past, present, and future, developing a deeper understanding of the city’s rich history, diverse communities, and ongoing evolution. Through interactive learning experiences, they examined how neighborhoods have changed over time, identified current community strengths and challenges, and envisioned ways to create a more inclusive, vibrant, and sustainable future. Students were encouraged to think critically about their role as community members and leaders, while developing ideas and solutions that contribute to the growth and well-being of the neighborhoods in which they live.
Good Samaritan Family Resource Center: Willie Brown Beacon Summer Learning Program
WB Community Outdoor Education & Garden Clean-Up Day: As part of Summer Learning Week, this event was centered on the theme Learn, Lead, Belong in San Francisco and invited students, families, and community members to come together in support of our school environment. Participants learned about sustainability, environmental care, and urban gardening through hands-on activities. Youth had opportunities to lead projects such as garden bed restoration, planting, and organizing clean-up efforts. Throughout the event, we aimed to foster a strong sense of belonging by creating a welcoming space where everyone contributed and connected. Activities included campus beautification, garden clean-up, planting, and interactive outdoor learning experiences.
Potrero Hill Neighborhood House: Summer in the City
Potrero STEAM Festival: The Potrero Hill STEAM Festival was an afternoon filled with exploration, experiments, and discovery. We closed down the street in front of our facility, and invited the community out to to explore Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematical projects developed by friends and neighbors in these fields.
Real Options for City Kids: Real Options for City Kids (R.O.C.K.) Go Camp and Summer Escape
Family Game Night: This event promoted community building and a sense of belonging by inviting families and students to enjoy a game night. Students had the opportunity to lead and explain game rules throughout the event. We also had some board games available along with organized games facilitated by students.
Urban Services YMCA: Charles Drew Beacon
Bay Area Changemakers: Learn, Lead, Belong Through Service: This engaging experience allowed students to team up with staff and peers to participate in hands-on projects, and give back to their community in fun and meaningful ways. Through out the week, students built new skills, took on leadership roles, and worked together to solve real-world challenges; all while discovering how they can make a positive impact in our city. It was more than just a program, it was a chance for students to connect, grow, and be part of something bigger.
Samoan Community Development Center (SCDC): Pacific Islander Youth Alliance
Pasifika POWER UP: Youth participated in community building activities that tied to learning their cultural identity through being actively involved and encouraging belonging within each other during summer time. The event was in alignment with Learn, Lead, and Belong in San Francisco, as youth learned about leadership and building relationships in teams. We dedicated this week with a tournament that allowed the youth to work together and thrive in unifying teams.
Bayview YMCA: MLK Beacon Summer Legacy
SF Culture Week: During Summer Learning Week, our program will host SF Culture Week, where youth explore the history and culture of different San Francisco districts. Participants will work in teams to research a district and present their learning through a slideshow, building leadership and collaboration skills. To promote creativity and connection, youth will also design a runway outfit representing their district. This experience fosters civic awareness, celebrates diversity, and helps youth feel a stronger sense of belonging in their community, aligning with the Learn, Lead, Belong theme. Photos coming soon!
