District 8 includes the Castro, Noe Valley, Glen Park, Diamond Heights, Twin Peaks, Cole Valley, and Duboce Triangle. The District has played an important role in San Francisco history as many of the neighborhoods it encompasses were represented by Supervisor Harvey Milk following his election in 1978.
