We are thrilled to announce that Deputy Director for Permit Services David Kane will serve as DBI’s interim director starting March 21.
David will be taking the reins from our current director, Patrick O’Riordan, who is retiring on March 20 after 26 years as a DBI building inspector, division chief and department director.
Prior to joining DBI, David spent 20 years working in private practice in San Francisco as a licensed structural engineer with expertise in seismic design and building retrofits. Since joining DBI last year, he has been instrumental in reforming slope protection requirements and helping to develop the new PermitSF online permitting system.
David’s experience as both a permit applicant and leader of our permitting division makes him uniquely qualified for this role as we expand our ongoing efforts to improve our processes and provide even better customer service.
