Approval of the April Meeting Minutes

The Commission will review and possibly approve minutes from the regular Commission meeting on April 23, 2025.

Director's Report

Acting Director Linda Yeung and staff may discuss grant programs; core service area activities; meetings involving City leaders, agencies, and stakeholders; Department staff; past/upcoming events; and/or Department operations.

New Business

A. PRESENTATION FROM OFFICE OF TRANSGENDER INITIATIVES (OTI)  

Director Honey Mahogany will provide an update on the status of Office of Transgender Initiatives. She may also highlight some of the most pressing challenges currently facing the trans community and the OTI Department as a whole.

B. PRESENTATION ON THE COMMISSION ON STATUS OF WOMEN – POWERS AND DUTIES

Acting Director Yeung will give a brief presentation on the roles and duties of boards and commissions related to convening public hearings and forming special committees or working groups.

C. DIRECTOR/DEPARTMENT HEAD RECRUITMENT

The Department of Human Resources will provide an overview of the process and protocols for the recruitment of the new Director/Department Head.

Action: To form a Director/Department Head recruitment special committee.

D. COMMISSION STREAMLINING TASK FORCE AND PROP E SURVEY

Commission Secretary Dominique Blakely will provide an overview of Proposition E, which was approved by the voters in November 2024, and the establishment of the Commission Streamlining Task Force. Secretary Blakely will also give an update on the task force’s timeline and what to expect over the next year.

Additionally, Secretary Blakely will provide an overview of the Budget and Legislative Analyst’s Office Proposition E board and commission survey due on June 20.

Action: To form a Prop E Commission Streamlining Task Force special committee which will periodically present information and recommendations to the full Commission.

New Business

E. INTRODUCTION OF “FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS”

Actor Director Yeung will introduce New Business Item 4E as a new standing agenda item for the Commission on the Status of Women.

The Commission may discuss potential topics for future meeting agendas.

GENERAL PUBLIC COMMENT

This item is to allow members of the public to address the Commission on matters that are within the subject matter jurisdiction of the Commission and that do not appear on the agenda, as well as to suggest new agenda items for future meetings.
