Your plans will be routed for review by a Public Health program during plan check if it contains any of the following scopes of work.

Environmental Health

What to do

Review these scopes of work that require review by Public Health Programs. Plan ahead to make sure you can meet the requirements of the health codes these programs regulate.

Retail Food Facility, Kennels, and Pet Shops

  • Retail food facilities. For example, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, corner stores, and employee cafeterias
  • Kennels or pet shops with overnight animal boarding

Site Assessment and Mitigation

  • Projects in the Maher Area that include either 50 cubic yards or more of soil disturbance, or a change from commercial or industrial use to a residential or sensitive use.
  • Projects greater than 0.5 acres.

Cell Towers (Radio Frequency)

  • Projects that construct or modify cell antennas, not including dismantling.

Cannabis

  • Cannabis dispensing facilities with any onsite consumption

Hazardous Materials and Waste

  • Facilities that store, handle, generate hazardous materials or medical waste. For example, clinics, labs, auto shops, underground storage tanks, cell towers with batteries, cooling towers, dry cleaners, etc.

Hunters Point Shipyard Redevelopment

  • Projects that disturb any soil in the Article 31 area.

Massage & Body Arts

  • Establishments with massage, permanent cosmetic piercing, or body art services

Pools & Hot Tubs

  • Projects that construct or modify pools and hot tubs and their ancillary areas, located either on a commercial property, or residential property of more than 3 units.

Alternate Water Source System

  • Facilities with onsite water treatment systems for non-potable use.

Solid Waste

  • Projects that construct or modify solid waste transfer, processing, or disposal facilities
