Ayan Azad is a current sophomore at Lick-Wilmerding High School, where he also serves as an intern for the Center for Civic Engagement. Ayan is a member of the San Francisco Baha'i community and has been engaged in community-building activities at the local level since childhood. This work has been inspired by the belief that building strong communities across diverse identities at the grassroots level promotes lasting change. His work with the SF Youth Commission extends this idea to improving the lives of all youth in San Francisco. Outside of these activities, Ayan plays competitive soccer for a club as well as his school team. As a true San Franciscan, Ayan finds peace listening to music while riding MUNI across the various neighborhoods in the city. Given his Nepali-Iranian background, he also has ties to various cultural groups and, as a foodie, enjoys the various cuisines San Francisco has to offer.
