Arts Impact Endowment (AIE) – For Artists and Organizations
FY26-27 Arts Impact Endowment (AIE): Artists Grantees
FY26-27 Arts Impact Endowment (AIE): Arts Organizations Grantees
For the next five years, Arts Impact Endowment (AIE) funds are focused on Keeping Artists in San Francisco. This theme comes from the 2024-2029 Cultural Services Allocation Plan (CSAP). The CSAP and AIE address needs in the arts community by keeping artists and arts workers from being displaced. It does this by funding their work, their working environments, their connections to the communities that nurture them, and the organizations and ecosystem that support them.
FY26 Arts Impact Endowment (AIE) grantees were selected through a competitive RFP process with an application deadline in fall 2025 for one grant category connected to a single theme to "keep artists and arts workers in San Francisco." Racial equity is the primary lens for all program design. 10 virtual review panels took place over 20 days from February to March 2026 with 49 peer panelists serving the process of reviewing 315 applications. The majority of projects will began on July 1, 2026.
Funding for the Arts Impact Endowment comes from the Hotel Tax Fund and is supported by both the Cultural Equity Endowment and Arts Impact Endowment line items.
Artistic Legacy Grant (ALG) – For Artists
FY26-27 Artistic Legacy Grant Grantees
The Artistic Legacy Grant (ALG) acknowledges the impact of an artist who has been living and practicing their craft in San Francisco for the last 25 consecutive years or more. This grant category aims to uplift and celebrate an artist who has contributed to San Francisco’s diverse arts and culture ecosystem.
Through their artistic practice, these artists are vital members of their respective communities, have a history of deeply engaging with San Francisco communities including one or more of the historically underrepresented communities highlighted in the 1993 Cultural Equity Endowment Legislation, have a history of working to educate the broader community on the importance of their culture and/or artistic genre, and seek to preserve their artistic legacy.
FY26 Artistic Legacy grantees were selected through a competitive RFP process with an application deadline in October 2025. One virtual review panel took place over one day in February 2026 with 3 peer panelists serving the process of reviewing 11 applications. SFAC awarded $200,000 to two individual artists for projects begun on July 1, 2026.
Funding for the Artistic Legacy Grant is supported by the Cultural Equity Endowment line item.
