Anthony Bush serves as the Deputy Director of Equity, Compliance & Capacity Building for the San Francisco Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH). Previously, he served as the department's inaugural Chief Equity Officer, a role he built from the ground up to advance racial equity across San Francisco's homelessness response system.

Anthony attended Dickinson College as a Posse Scholar, earning a degree in American Studies with a concentration in race, gender, and sexuality. In 2026, he received Dickinson College's Outstanding Young Alumni Award, recognizing graduates who have demonstrated exceptional professional achievement, leadership, and service early in their careers. He was also honored in 2024 with The Posse Foundation's Posse Ainslie Alumni Achievement Award for his leadership and commitment to community.

At HSH, Anthony developed HSH's framework for achieving racial equity and led the city's first internal racial equity training focused on the systemic drivers of homelessness. His work established a foundation for embedding equity into the department's policies, programs, and strategic priorities, including HSH's Strategic Plan goal of reducing racial and other disparities. Today, he oversees the department's efforts to strengthen equity, compliance, and organizational capacity while advancing more equitable outcomes for the communities HSH serves.

Before joining HSH, Anthony served as Director of Diversity and Inclusion at St. Joseph's Preparatory School in Philadelphia. There, he developed a racial equity strategic plan that engaged students, families, alumni, faculty, and staff while creating programming that strengthened cultural competency around race, privilege, oppression, gender, and sexuality.

Anthony has dedicated his career to dismantling systemic barriers that disproportionately impact vulnerable communities. Through his leadership in education and local government, he continues to advance equity, strengthen public institutions, and create more inclusive systems that better serve all San Franciscans.
