Candidates - June 2, 2026, Consolidated Primary Election

Candidates - November 3, 2026, Consolidated General Election

Those who file for elective office in San Francisco must follow many laws. Our office helps local candidates navigate those laws. We also keep track of filing papers. (Many forms are available below.)

We encourage local candidates to complete all necessary filing steps as early as possible, before the deadlines. This will give you time to correct any errors. You can schedule an appointment or call us at 415-554-4375 with any questions.

Campaign Finance Resources

The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) helps to administer and enforce campaign finance laws.

All local candidates must complete a series of FPPC forms to disclose certain financial details. These include campaign contributions and spending, conflicts of interest, and lobbying expenditures. Some forms must be submitted to our office, others to the San Francisco Ethics Commission or the California Secretary of State.

The FPPC produces resources for candidates such as a Campaign Disclosure Manual 2 and Filing Schedule. In addition, the San Francisco Ethics Commission publishes a general guide with information about campaign finance and disclosures.

FPPC Forms can be accessed and downloaded here.
