We are responsible for setting fair, transparent, and accountable refuse rates as the City continues to pursue its Zero-Waste goals.
The Refuse Rate Administrator has released application materials for Rate Years 2026 - 2030, due 1/3/25. The public will be able to write Prop. F objections and comment at public meetings. New rates will be determined by the Refuse Rate Board in early summer 2025 and will go into effect October 1st, 2025.

The Refuse Rate Reform Ordinance Of 2022 amends the Refuse Collection and Disposal Ordinance (“the Refuse Ordinance”) to restructure the refuse rate setting process to replace hearings before the Department of Public Works with a requirement that the Controller, as Refuse Rate Administrator, regularly monitor the rates and appear before the Refuse Rate Board to recommend rate adjustments.
