Fire Sprinkler Permits

General Project Information 

  • DBI Permit application Form and number (Addenda schedule –WHITE form or deferred submittal –Pink form).

  • Approved Architectural plans for reference – For R-3 occupancies the Arch plans shall include the specific NFPA standard (13D, 13R or 13).

  • Plans drawn to scale not smaller than 1/8” = 1’  on sheets of uniform size (11” X 17” minimum) – All Fonts must be 1/8” minimum.  

  • Fire sprinkler Contractor C-16 License # and/or engineer stamp + Sprinkler System designer name and contact information.  

  • Detailed scope of Work including the specific area(s) to be sprinklered, specify if a fire pump and/or standpipe are provided if applicable.

  • Indicate if an underground service is included on the scope or is it under separate submittal.

  • Indicate if the scope includes car stackers and/or EV parking/charging stations. If applicable indicate compliance with AB # 4.25 and 4.29.

  • Associated NFPA standard used 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, 24 and associated edition as applicable. 

  • The Scope of work must be the same on the Plans and on the permit application form and on the PTS system.

  • Building information: Occupancy/ Number of stories/ Type of construction/ Number of existing and new units for R occupancies including ADUs.  

  • The building information must match on PTS / Permit application form and the approved architectural plans.

  • Applicable Codes List including specific editions:  CBC/CFC/SFBC/SFFC, and SFFD ABs (AB # 2.04, 4.06, 4.29, 4.25) as applicable.

  • Elevator checklist per SFFD AB # 2.01 addendum. 

Materials Submittal (could be submitted on a separate booklet)

  • Manufacturer specifications sheets with specific devices highlighted.

Information on Plans

  • Symbols and Equipment Lists, Floor plans to scale, Piping and bracing plans, sway brace calculations.  

  • Table of contents and sheet index. 

Hydraulic Calculations 

  • Processed SFFD Water-flow request form from the last 12 months. 

  • Calculations as required per the associated sprinkler standard.

Fire Alarm Permits

General Project Information 

  • DBI Permit application Form and number (Addenda schedule –WHITE form or deferred submittal –Pink form).

  • Approved Architectural /Mechanical /Sprinkler/ 2-WAY ECS and ERRCS plans  for reference as applicable.

  • Plans drawn to scale not smaller than 1/8” = 1’ , on sheets of uniform size (11” X 17” minimum) – All Fonts must be 1/8” minimum.  

  • Fire Alarm Contractor C-10 License # and/or engineer stamp + FA System designer name and contact information.  

  • Detailed scope of Work: Required or voluntary system/ Type of system (Tone or Voice- based) / Building FA System or dedicated Function system. 

  • The Scope of work must be the same on the Plans and on the permit application form and on the PTS system.

  • Building information: Occupancy/ Number of stories/ Type of construction/ Number of existing and new units for R occupancies including ADUs.  

  • The building information must match on PTS / Permit application form and the approved architectural plans.

  • Applicable Codes List including specific editions:  CBC/CFC/SFBC/SFFC, NFPA 72/ ASME A17.1 and SFFD ABs (AB # 2.01, 3.01, 3.02, 3.05, 5.08).

  • Elevator checklist per SFFD AB # 2.01addendum F and addendum E for Group 4 Elevators as applicable.

Materials Submittal (could be submitted on a separate booklet)

  • Current CSFM listing sheets with specific devices highlighted.

  • Manufacturer specifications sheets with specific devices highlighted.

Information on Plans

  • Symbols and Equipment Lists, Sequence of Operation Matrix, Floor plans to scale, Riser diagram.

  • Table of contents and sheet index.

Calculations on plans

  • Battery capacity and Voltage drop calculations.
