SAN FRANCISCO MUNICIPAL TRANSPORTATION AGENCY |
Muni service changes starting Saturday, August 30th.
You can find more details on our SFMTA.com/ServiceChanges page. We will post further information in the coming weeks.
Route changes
Beginning Tuesday, September 2, 2025, we’re updating weekday schedules and trip times on three key Muni routes to better match ridership demand and reduce crowding. We based these changes on ridership data and direct feedback from Muni operators and passengers.
-
On the 1X California Express, we are restoring the 7:15 a.m. and 7:45 a.m. trips. These trips were removed earlier in 2025. Riders will now have five morning options on weekdays to help ease crowding and improve reliability.
-
On the 30X Marina Express, we’re adding a morning trip at 8:15 a.m. to the current morning trips at 7:15 a.m., and 7:45 a.m. to better serve actual travel patterns. Some stop locations in the Marina will also change slightly so our electric trolleys can stay on their power grid. Signs and maps will be posted to guide riders.
-
49 Van Ness/Mission, 8 Bayshore, 29 Sunset, we’re adding service where riders need it most—during the school commute and peak travel hours. On the 49 Van Ness/Mission, three new inbound morning trips will run between 7:30 and 8:15 a.m., when buses are most crowded. This helps students get to class and workers get downtown. Afternoon schedules on the 8 Bayshore and 29 Sunset will also shift. These routes serve many students heading home after school.
These updates cut down on pass-ups and make it easier to get a seat. They’re timed for the start of the new school year.
Once you board a Muni bus or train, you still have two hours to make free transfers to any other Muni vehicle.
The Bayview Shuttle Has Expanded!
We’re excited to announce that the Bayview Shuttle now has extended hours and a larger service area. The shuttle now runs from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends. We've also expanded the northern boundary of the service area up to Cesar Chavez Street - all based on feedback from the Bayview community.
To view the updated service map and stay informed about events and meetings, visit sfmta.com/projects/bayview-community-shuttle.
To see more about how the Bayview Shuttle is performing, please visit our public Bayview Shuttle dashboards which include information on completed trips, ride ratings, popular destinations, and more.
The Shuttle team is always looking for community events and/or businesses to highlight as part of our service, so if you’re interested please reach out. Thanks for riding!
The Bayview Shuttle was supported by the California Climate Investments program.

Commission Streamlining Task Force
Help shape the future of San Francisco government
San Francisco government includes nearly 150 advisory boards and commissions.
Prop E, approved by the voters last November, created a task force to review the City's advisory boards and commissions and make recommendations about opportunities to modify, consolidate, or eliminate them.
The Commission Streamlining Task Force is meeting now through the end of the year to develop these recommendations, and they want your feedback.
Here’s what to know:
-
The task force meets every 1st and 3rd Wednesday at 1pm in City Hall, Room 408. Meetings are open to the public and streamed live on WebEx.
-
You can learn when the task force will review and make recommendations on each advisory board or commission by going to the task force’s website and clicking on the ‘Planned Decision Calendar’ in the Resources section.
-
Submit written public comment to the task force by emailing Commission.Streamlining@sfgov.org prior to the meeting. Comments will be posted on the task force’s website with contact information redacted. You can also give public comment live during the meeting, either in-person or on WebEx.
For meeting information and other resources, visit SF.gov/CommissionStreamlining. Together, we can improve the administration of good government and create a better-run San Francisco.
