A.  LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Shelter Monitoring Committee acknowledges that we are on the unceded ancestral homeland of the Ramaytush Ohlone, who are the original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula. As the Indigenous stewards of this land, and in accordance with their traditions, the Ramaytush Ohlone have never ceded, lost, nor forgotten their responsibilities as the caretakers of this place, as well as for all peoples who reside in their traditional territory. As guests, we recognize that we benefit from living and working on their traditional homeland. We wish to pay our respects by acknowledging the Ancestors, Elders, and Relatives of the Ramaytush Ohlone community and by affirming their sovereign rights as First Peoples.

II. OLD BUSINESS

A. TRAINING for SHELTER STAFF           Discussion

To better serve clients, the Committee is asking shelters for training records as part of every inspection. Staff will get the word out that Members who visit are going to ask to see training logs and may have questions related to this.

B.  ADMIN CODE AND BYLAW EDITS     Discussion

An update on the status of the changes to the Administrative Code that SMC requested many months ago (along with some more recent proposals). The Board of Supervisors has not approved these yet.

III. NEW BUSINESS/REPORTS

A.  POLICY SUBCOMMITTEE REPORT          Discussion
                           Subcommittee Chair Street       15 min
Training remained a topic of interest.  Member Dobbs planned to ask HSH for information about requirements and budgets, as well as how much discretion they have on what and how they provide this.  There was more discussion of a proposal by Member C-J Ross as to how to ensure that complaints filed with the shelter but not SMC are addressed. Lastly, the video systems question is still under review. HSH’s 2018 procedure was shared. 

B.  VIDEO RECORDING AT SHELTERS     Discussion

HSH provided a 2018 video footage policy.  It might benefit from some refinement/update. Members will discuss.
