SAN FRANCISCO, Wednesday, October 16, 2024 – The Department of Elections reminds new voters to register to vote by Monday, October 21, 2024 to receive a ballot in the mail for the November 5 election.

“Everyone who registers to vote by October 21 will receive a ballot packet in the mail. San Franciscans can still register to vote after October 21 but must do so in person at the City Hall Voting Center or at their neighborhood polling place,” said Director John Arntz.

Local voters can confirm their registration details by visiting sfelections.gov/voterportal or by contacting the Department of Elections.

San Franciscans can register, pre-register, or update their voter registration details at registertovote.ca.gov, or by submitting a paper registration form. To receive a ballot by mail for the November 5 election, online registrations must be completed by midnight on October 21, and paper registration forms must be postmarked by the same date.

Non-citizen voters eligible to participate in the Board of Education election can confirm their registration by visiting sfelections.gov/ncvportal. The Department provides a non-citizen voter registration form for download at sfelections.gov/NCV or upon request by calling the Department of Elections at (415) 554-4375, or by visiting the Department’s office in Room 48 at City Hall.

After October 21, eligible non-citizen residents may still register or update their registration at the City Hall Voting Center or any polling place up to and including Election Day.
